Founded in 1998 and based in Brøndby, Denmark, Collectia is a fast-growing debt collection and debt purchase business operating primarily in Denmark with a niche presence in Sweden, Norway and Germany. The company employs more than 175 staff and serves about 13,000 corporate customers across more than 600,000 active cases.

Collectia is a highly differentiated business with a sophisticated proprietary technology platform, credit database and advanced data analytics capabilities. It has significant potential to build market share in existing and new markets.

The company has diversified beyond its core debt collection business in recent years. It has increased its exposure to debt purchasing and launched a credit control service for the Danish market, where Collectia provides credit score information to its customers. In addition, Collectia has carried out several acquisitions to expand its presence across the Nordic region and in Germany.

Our investment

The investment in Collectia builds on our extensive experience in the financial services sector and complements our strategy of leveraging attractive macro dynamics - in this case, increasing regulation and technology change.

New Danish and European Union-wide regulation is driving continued outsourcing of debt collection to specialist service providers such as Collectia. Furthermore, Collectia expects additional regulation will result in banks and businesses selling greater volumes of non-performing loans or debtor portfolios in the coming years.

Our investment will enable Collectia to accelerate its growth by using superior technology to develop its debt collection processes, scale its debt purchase operations, and continue its international expansion through selective acquisitions.
